A couple of months ago I noticed a small dark patch on the wooden floor of my kitchen and just above it, a small area of wall which was going crinkly with what looked like damp. I did what all responsible home owners would do and ignored it for a few weeks in the hope the problem would go away, which of course it didn’t. The dark patch on the floor got darker and bigger and the crinkles on the wall seemed to be spreading out. I contacted Abbott Damp Proofing who visited and arranged a day to investigate and tackle the mysterious patches in my kitchen. The lads arrived and really gave a brilliant level of service. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and already a mum to a 3 year old so wasn’t relishing the thought of all the mess, noise and inconvenience the work would bring. However the lads discovered what the problem was and completed the work quickly and left no mess behind at all and did a fantastic job despite constant harassment from my basset hound. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbott Damp Proofing as they were trust-worthy, efficient and obviously knew their stuff.

The visit was followed up with a full report which confirmed the observations, conclusions and recommendations made during the site visit (all of which made sense). I can highly recommend Abbott Damp Proofing. I have used this small, firm, based in Enfield, 3 times for damp proofing different properties over North London in the past year. The most recent one at the end of November. It was a huge relief to have someone to make an expert assessment visit and recommend the solution to what had been long standing damp problems. Mr Prince clearly knows his subject. He did not over dramatise the situation and his estimates were very competetive, compared to the 2 prior estimates for the same property. This large Victorian property was treated a year ago and there have been no problems at all since then. On this basis I have had the Abbott Damp Proofing team work on 2 other properties in the area. The workers are efficient and as tidy as it is possible to be – they made sure existing carpets were protected and cleared away all debris after completion. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
When we purchased our house we were informed by the surveyor that we had rising damp in 3 of the rooms. We looked around and had 2 damp proofing firms come to quote for the work. Their prices seemed high, so I decided to look on Which? Local to find a damp proofing company in my area. After giving Abbott Damp Proofing a call, David came over the next week to assess the work and give a price. The quote seemed much more reasonable that the previous quotes, and David was also very honest, suggesting that as my plasterers were doing the rest of the room, it would probably save me money to have them plaster over the damp injected wall once he finished the work. They were able to complete the work within 10 days and were extremely professional. The two guys who came over to remove the rendering and inject it were friendly, helpful and provided lots of useful information to how to look after the walls in question. David himself provided an excellent aftercare service and was able to instruct my plasterer on what consistency and method of plastering to use. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending David and Abbott Damp Proofing for their excellent, professional service.
Approached the company after reading the reviews on this site. I forwarded a damp proof report to David Prince who then gave me a very good quote for the work. As per his email, his team (Craig, Daniel & Anthony) started work as scheduled and did a fantastic job. The team was punctual, reliable and happily answered our queries with regards to the work. Very impressed with the workmanship and professionalism. Happy to recommend them to all.
Excellent and well worth the money. Came out to me in South East London to (Honor Oak). I spoke to David about what we needed done and he was able to fit an appointment in within 4 days (perfect). He talked me through what we needed and why and was very patient, given that I’m such a layman around this kind of stuff. When the chap arrived to do the damp-proofing, it was all sorted within 45 mins. Very professional, helpful and of a high standard. This company has just finished damp proofing works to two rooms in my house. Over the years I’ve had more than a few companies look at the problem and been told contradicting advice and was unsure as to who actually knew what the correct solution was. David Prince from Abbott Damp Proofing visited, answered all my questions (I had loads of them!), was very knowledgeable and came up with the best solution. David Prince and his team were helpful and efficient and offered a good-value service. They did an excellent job installing a damp proof course in our new house and treating woodworm and were always happy to take the time to answer any questions we had. The house was also left clean and tidy.
